Lesson 21
Oil Painting Medium & Cleanup |
Some artists paint with oils without
turpentine or with no oil painting media and no Turpentine to thin the oils ...
just the oils straight out of the tube. It’s ok but the painting won’t last a
hundred years

Cleanup:
-
The easy way; set up a cup
of Baby Oil (the stuff you buy in Drug Stores or Supermarkets) , dip your
brushes with oil paints in the cup and wipe the brush with newspaper or an
old 0phone books to remove as much of the oil paints as possible several
times on multiple pages till as much is removed as you can. Then use soap
(household or art supply store brush cleaning soap) to fully clean the
brush. The set the brush someplace where the brush area is not under
pressure.
-
Some artists use Baby Wipes
to clean brushes.
-
Some artists use Art Supply
store bought Brush Cleaning Tanks and Brush Cleaning Fluid (like those below
from Dick Blick (click on the Dick Blick logo to order them).
